Week 23

Hello.

It’s me. Ako pa rin po si Elder Tripp. This is my weekly email.

This week started out really well. The Santo Domingo branch president took us and the sisters to Vigan to the dancing fountain, and then treated us to dinner.

In Pagsanaan Norte, one of the people we teach has a piglet that is really small. I’ve never seen a pig this small in my life.

We learned a lot about the sister we were teaching there, and we expressed our desire to help. In the next few days, we continually fought sickness and fatigue, and we decided to do some tracting in a different part of Magsingal, Barangay Bacar. It was in Bacar I took a short staircase that led under another staircase to a sealed over doorway. So I went on a short climb to nowhere. It pretty much felt like missionary work some of the time. Some times you do all the effort to climb the stairs, but at the top you just find out there’s no door there anyway.

Finally, we went to the barangay where we have the most people to teach, and in the course of about half an hour found they were all busy, so we ended up crossing this sketchy bridge over an empty river (like a 12 foot drop) to visit a barangay captain at his tobacco farm. We continue to love and serve here in Magsingal. I’m sad my companion is going home in a few weeks (March 5) and I’ll be left here with someone new.

And that’s this week. Additionally, I can be reached at zephram.tripp@missionary.lds.org and can call my family every week.

Love you all,
