Week 67 - Merry Christmas from the Philippines (x2)

Family and friends,

I successfully endured the hecticness of transfer day and made it to my new area in Bangui. My new companion is cool and really helpful. He is also the district leader here in the Bangui District.

Unfortunately, my camera got left behind in the craziness of transfers, so for the mean time, I only have pictures from other people.

In Bangui, the chapel is still under construction, so we meet in a meetinghouse. This meeting house is located on the same lot as our apartment, so it’s almost impossible to be late for church.

Bangui is famous because of its many wind turbines. We see them all the time, because they are large and obvious. Many people we meet make a living off of building and selling windmill souvenirs.

Story this week: My companion and I showed up in one part of my area, and he mentioned to me that this barangay is a hard part of the area because of the strength of the other churches in the area. The great blessing was that after we started knocking on doors and talking to people, we got let in to three houses in a row, by people who had never met missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints before. It was a blessing to meet so many people this week who want to get closer to Jesus Christ.

This Christmas, I’d like to wish you all a Merry Christmas. Always remember “He Is With You,” and life’s sailing will be a lot smoother.

That’s all for this week.

Love and thanks,

Elder Tripp
