Week 2

That story by President Eyring is sort of funny, but is a really realistic view of the natural man. I hope that throughout my mission, I can learn to be less selfish and self-serving.

A week in the MTC is not super exciting. The standard day has me getting up at 6:30, eating breakfast around 8, exercising at 10, lunch at 12, class from 1:30 to 4:30, dinner at 5, class from 6:15 to 9:15, and then heading back to the residency. The schedule gets mixed up on Tuesday (evening devo) Friday (P-Day), Saturday (morning class instead of evening class), and Sunday (church), plus any day we have a workshop.

Language training is pretty rough, but the studying was actually pretty helpful. It was a bit misleading about the conjugation of verbs, but was otherwise useful. Sundays we don’t have language class, but we do have meetings all day, and a Sunday devotional.

It is true that I am seeing tons of people that I knew. It’s pretty awesome to notice people that I knew in college and get a chance to say hi to them.

Sunday devotional this week was pretty awesome because Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles came and spoke. It was crazy spiritual and my mind was just blown. I got to sing the choir for the event, so if it ever becomes publicly available you might see me.

I loved the package of cookies you sent. It reminded me that I need to send some letters to you guys, so hopefully you get something from me soon.

I need more solid black socks for here in the MTC. The white handbook says that you can wear only solid color socks that either match your pants or shoes, and I didn’t actually bring any tan pants for my tan socks.

I hope everything is going fantastically for you at home.

Picture of my district, so you can get an idea of what the people with whom I hang out every day look like. Ignore the silly Elder in the middle.
